Stickers sell well at craft fairs and holiday markets because they are a low-cost impulse buy that almost anyone will grab on the way out. The vendors who do best treat stickers two ways: as a product people buy, and as branding that rides home on every bag, jar and gift box they sell.
Here is how we would set up a market table for the holiday season if we were in your booth, from what to print to how much to order.
Do stickers sell well at craft fairs?
Yes, mostly as add-ons. A shopper who is still thinking about a bigger purchase will often grab a couple of stickers while they decide. That makes stickers a good way to raise your average sale even when you sell candles, prints, pottery or jewelry as your main line.
What moves best is specific. Local pride designs, inside jokes for a fan base, pets, plants, and anything tied to a place people love. In East Tennessee that means mountains, rivers, local slang and the orange and white crowd. Generic designs blend into every other table. Designs that make someone say "that is so my brother" sell.
What size stickers sell best at markets?
A 3x3 is the safe pick. It is our most-ordered size, it reads well on a display board, and it fits a laptop lid, tumbler or notebook. A 2x2 works for small add-ons and packaging seals. A 4x4 or 5x5 is a statement piece for coolers, toolboxes and car windows, and it can carry a slightly higher price at your table.
If you are testing designs for the first time, start with one size across several designs instead of several sizes of one design. You will learn faster which art people actually want.
Die-cut or kiss-cut for a market table?
Die-cut stickers are cut to the shape of your art, so they look finished in a display and in a buyer's hand. Kiss-cut stickers stay on a rectangular backing, which gives you room for a border and makes them easy to peel and hand out. Both print on 3M IJ40C vinyl with a gloss or matte laminate. Our die-cut vs kiss-cut breakdown covers the details.
Want something that catches light across the room? Holographic die-cuts shift color as people walk past. They are a specialty holographic vinyl, not 3M, and they work best as a few standout designs rather than your whole lineup.
Labels make the rest of your table look like a brand
If you sell candles, soap, sauces, coffee or baked goods, a clean die-cut label on every item does more for your table than any tablecloth. Matching labels tell shoppers you are a real brand they can find again. Put your name, the product and variant, and a way to reorder on there. A small die-cut seal with your logo on a gift bag or box does the same job for less space.
Beaver Slaps makes labels as individual die-cut labels in the same builder as our stickers. You peel and apply them by hand, which is exactly how most market sellers work. What your label says about ingredients or safety is up to you as the maker, so check the rules for your product category before you print. We are publishing a full series on product labels on The Dam Source over the next couple of weeks.
What else should a craft fair booth have?
- A banner across the front of the tent. A 3x6 vinyl banner fits a 10x10 tent and reads from down the aisle. Ours is 13 oz matte vinyl with six brass grommets, so it hangs flat and does not shine under string lights.
- A freebie for every bag. A small logo sticker dropped into each order costs very little and keeps your name on someone's water bottle after the market closes.
- A QR code somewhere visible. Point it to your shop or socials so people who walk away can still buy later.
How many stickers should I bring to a craft fair?
There is no magic number, but plan per design, not per order. A first-time vendor is usually better off with several designs in modest quantities than a huge stack of one. At Beaver Slaps, 50 custom 3x3 die-cuts start at $78, and the price per piece drops as quantity goes up, so your proven sellers get cheaper to restock. Our post on how much custom die-cut stickers cost explains how size and quantity move the number.
Keep notes at each market. Which designs sold out, which never moved, and what people asked for that you did not have. That list is your next order.
