Branded Packaging Stickers: Making a Shipped Order Feel Premium

Packaging stickers make a shipped order feel premium because they turn a plain mailer into something that looks finished and intentional. One logo seal on the box and one on the tissue costs far less than custom-printed boxes and gets you most of the same first impression.

Here is where to put them, what sizes work, and how to keep the cost per order low.

Where should you put stickers on packaging?

Think about the order a customer sees things in:

  • Outside of the box or mailer. A logo sticker on the top tells them who it is from before they open it.
  • The seal. A sticker across the box flap or the tissue paper replaces a strip of tape and gives them a moment of opening something.
  • Inside. A thank-you sticker on the tissue or a card, plus a freebie sticker they can keep.

You do not need all three. A seal on the tissue and a freebie in the box covers most of the effect for two stickers per order.

What size packaging stickers work best?

  • 2x2 inch: tissue seals, small mailers, jewelry boxes, bag closures.
  • 3x3 inch: box tops, larger mailers, and the freebie sticker people stick on laptops and bottles.
  • 4x4 inch and up: shipping boxes where you want the logo to read from across the room.

Round and die-cut logo shapes look more deliberate as seals than a rectangle. Our die-cut vs kiss-cut guide explains the cut options.

Seal stickers vs logo stickers vs thank-you stickers

Most brands use the same design for all three jobs, and that is fine. If you want to split them:

  • Seal stickers should be simple and bold. Logo only, maybe a website.
  • Thank-you stickers can carry a short message and a social handle.
  • Freebie stickers should be something people want to show off. Art, a mascot, an inside joke from your brand. Not a coupon.

The freebie is the one that leaves the box and keeps marketing for you on a laptop or water bottle.

Do stickers stick to poly mailers and kraft boxes?

Smooth poly mailers and coated boxes give vinyl stickers a great surface. Kraft boxes and kraft paper have texture and some dust, so press the sticker firmly from the center outward and run a finger around the edges. Tissue paper is delicate, so press lightly and let the sticker hold the fold rather than pressing it hard into the paper. Always test on your actual packaging before you order a big run. Our free sample pack makes that easy.

Are vinyl packaging stickers worth it over paper?

Paper seals work fine on kraft. Vinyl wins when the sticker might see rain on a porch, rough handling in shipping, or a second life on a customer's gear. Ours print on 3M IJ40C, a calendered vinyl, sealed with gloss or matte laminate, so the freebie in the box holds up wherever it ends up. For a drop or a limited release, a holographic seal (a separate specialty material, not 3M) makes the unboxing feel like an event. See our post on when to use holographic stickers.

How much do packaging stickers add per order?

For reference, 50 custom 3x3 die-cuts start at $78, which works out to about $1.56 per sticker, and the price per piece drops as quantity goes up. Smaller seals cost less than 3x3. If you ship a steady volume, ordering a few hundred of your seal design at once brings the cost per order down. Our sticker cost guide explains how size and quantity change the math.

Compare that to custom-printed boxes, which usually need high minimums and lock you into one design.

A simple premium unboxing setup

  • Plain mailer or kraft box
  • Tissue wrap, sealed with a 2x2 logo sticker
  • Thank-you card with a QR code to review or reorder
  • One freebie 3x3 die-cut sticker

That setup works for candle makers, clothing brands, Etsy shops, and anyone shipping from a home studio.
